Ginger Reds
My Gingers were started from Jimmy Swanson's Gingers from Florida in Summer of 2000. Since then I've crossed in with males I bought from David Crotts when he was moving from Arkansas in Spring, 2001. I was told they are a Vannoy/Britt cross. They are gentle and friendly birds.
My one male ginger here mentioned as my favorite of the two males from David Crotts won the honor of Best of Variety (BV) at the OEGBCA Virtual Show. This year, 2003, I have him in a pen with 5 nice hens. I expect them to throw some beautiful chicks.
I've only shown one of my Gingers once, a pullet I raised, and she won BV at the Western Washington State Fair in Puyallup, WA, 2001. I haven't had a chance to show any of my others yet, but I hear that birds from the same lines do very well in the big Central and Southeastern shows.
