Embryology

A chicken egg requires 21 days of incubation to completely develop into a new baby chick.  Incubation temperature should be at 99.5 degrees Farenheit.  You may get an early hatch if temps were slightly higher or a later hatch if temps were low.  If your hatch is not on the 21st day that indicates your temps need to be adjusted if you are using an incubator.

I have discovered that no incubator can compete with a good hen.  The hatch rates are usually better and chicks are healthier if raised by a hen instead of in a brooder.
This page is mostly just for educational purposes.  I wanted to have one place available with pictures of different stages of an eggs development.

If you want to learn more about incubation, there are many sources on the internet by doing a simple web search or ask those who have learned from experience.
